Making a difference is one of Resideo's core values and the company enables its employees to live this out in their communities globally. Through financial support, volunteering and product donations, Resideo is supporting Habitat for Humanity to help families achieve the strength, stability and self-reliance they need to build better lives for themselves.
By the end of 2023, Resideo will have contributed $600,000 in cash and products to support Habitat's mission of building homes, community and hope.
Employees Volunteer with Habitat for Humanity
As part of Resideo’s ongoing focus to provide safe, efficient and comfortable homes, Resideo teamed up with Habitat for Humanity for its "Home is the Key" cause marketing campaign. In April 2023, several Resideo and Johnstone employees helped make much-needed repairs and upgrades to a home that by this fall will have a new Habitat homeowner. It also helped raise the walls of a new home in the Morningside neighborhood of Detroit, the location chosen for this year's campaign.
In Sept. 2022, Resideo held its very first service project in North Minneapolis. More than 30 Minnesota-based employees from across the organization volunteered their time to help a homeowner living in the North Minneapolis community. The team made minor repairs, scraping paint, priming and painting the home to bring even more beauty to the tree-lined street.
"A day spent doing good in our community is a day well spent," said Krystin Foster, Total Rewards Analyst, Products & Solutions Human Resources. "Working alongside my colleagues – outside of the office – was a great team-building experience especially since many of us hadn't worked side by side together during the pandemic."
Habitat is best known for its "build" projects that involve purchasing land and working with volunteers and the future homeowner to design and build a quality and affordable home. Another of their initiatives is "A Brush With Kindness" , which was launched in the Twin Cities more than 30 years ago and seeks to preserve the exterior of the home through painting, landscaping and minor repair services. As a result, the program revitalizes the appearance of the neighborhood, encourages connections within the community, and most importantly, helps preserve affordable housing.
Joe Felion, the site supervisor with Habitat, mentioned that an exterior job like the one Resideo helped with would have taken them several months during the pandemic. Resideo's team completed the majority of the project in just two days. He cites corporate partners as crucial to the success of the communities they serve.
