Resideo Helps Create the Next Generation of Smart, Affordable Homes
Resideo and Arrow Electronics team up to support Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver to construct a first-of-its-kind community of affordable, integrated smart homes
Rising home ownership costs – including insurance premiums, property taxes, interest rates, home prices and utility costs – are prompting Americans to look for ways to reduce their monthly home expenses. In fact, data shows that Americans pay an average of $430 per month for utilities alone, amounting to 10% of their annual income.
Many are embracing smart technology to usher in lowered energy use and cost savings, along with the added benefits of enhanced convenience, safety and comfort. To extend these advantages to a variety of first-time homeowners, Resideo and Arrow Electronics have joined forces to help Habitat Metro Denver build a new community of smart, affordable homes in Aurora, Colo.
Habitat Metro Denver’s Mountain View community will feature 20 brand new three- and four-bedroom duplexes – all equipped with Resideo’s First Alert and Honeywell Home solutions. The solutions play a role in the performance of nearly every major system in the homes, and will provide users with seamless, simple solutions for monitoring and controlling their home’s security, water, heating and cooling systems through the First Alert app.
“At Resideo, we create solutions that help our customers protect what matters most – their homes and their families,” said Jeannine Lane, EVP, General Counsel at Resideo. “Our partnership with Habitat for Humanity honors that commitment. The families who benefit from Habitat homes are working every day to protect their families and their homes, and being a part of those goals being realized means a great deal to every team member at Resideo. We are proud to be their partners and look forward to continued growth together.”
Mountain View homes feature Resideo’s comprehensive range of smart home solutions, designed to protect what matters most and help conserve resources.
Habitat for Humanity’s network spans across more than 70 countries, and this initiative marks the first time the global nonprofit has integrated smart home solutions into the design and build project featuring a community of homes.
“Resideo believes that a smart, safe and sustainable home is a must for all homeowners, and our collaboration with Arrow Electronics and Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver to create a first-of-its-kind, affordable smart home bundle project represents the opportunity to protect the homeowner,” said Linsey Miller, SVP, Business Development and Strategic Marketing at Resideo. “As the first Habitat for Humanity development to feature smart home integrations, this pioneering project has the potential to set a precedent for the future, establishing smart home technology as a cornerstone for affordable housing initiatives going forward.”
Helping Protect the Community in Colorado
With the support of Arrow Electronics, Honeywell Home smart thermostats installed in the community enable enhanced climate control, allowing homeowners to adjust temperatures remotely via the First Alert app or set schedules tailored to their personal lifestyle. Additionally, the Honeywell Home UV Air Treatment system promotes energy efficiency and helps improve air quality by reducing odors, mold spores and airborne bacteria.
For heightened awareness and security, the First Alert video doorbell and outdoor camera allow residents to remotely monitor their property and screen visitors. The First Alert water leak detection system provides continuous monitoring for leaks and freezing temperatures, sending timely email and mobile alerts to homeowners and automatically shutting off water at the source to help prevent catastrophic damage.
The First Alert L Series offers smart water leak detection and prevention for the Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver homeowners.
Resideo’s products have proven to provide energy, resource and cost savings, with data showing that high use of the scheduling features of the Honeywell Home T5 and T6 Pro thermostats saved customers between 8 and 16% on heating and cooling bills[1]. The First Alert water leak detectors have saved millions of gallons of water and helped prevent millions of dollars of insurance claims.
In addition to donating the smart home solutions to Habitat for Humanity, Resideo is also helping the Mountain View community fully enjoy the advantages of a connected home without facing additional or hidden maintenance fees. With the help of Arrow, the company is providing homeowner training and collaborating with insurers to facilitate discounts for homeowners using its products.
“Our collaboration with Resideo demonstrates how technology makes life better by extending smart home benefits to affordable housing,” said Aiden Mitchell, Senior Vice President of Global Supplier Management at Arrow.
In this next generation of smart, affordable housing, Resideo’s smart home solutions will help combat rising home ownership costs and keep Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver’s Mountain View residents comfortable, safe and secure.
