Stronger Together: Resideo's Pro Partners Make a Difference in Communities

These everyday heroes, and the first responders they often support, are the backbone of their communities, stepping up when it matters most.

Each year, Resideo presents a Making a Difference Award to the HVAC and security organizations that demonstrate unwavering commitment to their communities. These awards honor those who exemplify what it means to be stronger together by fostering connection, support, and resilience.

During an Awards Gala at its CONNECT 2024 Customer Event, Resideo highlighted some of the programs that positively impacted their communities last year. Following is a summary of our 2024 Making a Difference award winners.

Security Professionals Impact Local Lives

EPS Security: Supporting Beer City Dog Biscuits

EPS Security launched a company-wide summer photo contest, encouraging team members to share pictures of their dogs enjoying the warm weather. For every submission, EPS donated $25, raising a total of $1,000 for Beer City Dog Biscuits, a nonprofit that employs individuals with disabilities to craft handmade dog treats. Beyond Beer City, EPS Security has proudly supported community causes for decades. “By backing their philanthropic efforts through volunteer opportunities, donation matches, and event support, we not only uplift local organizations but also inspire our team to create a lasting impact where they live and work,” said Jeremy Schellie, Marketing & Communications Manager at EPS.

Fleenor Security Systems: Second Harvest Food Drive

Throughout the summer of 2024, Fleenor Security Systems held a food drive to donate to families in need throughout Northeast Tennessee. Friendly competition between departments spurred an increase in donations as the end of the food drive approached, with teams coordinating group trips to the supermarket to out-donate other departments. In total, Fleenor Security Systems donated 956 lbs. of food, providing 797 meals for families in need. "Fleenor Security actively participates in numerous community service initiatives throughout the year to make a meaningful impact in our region that has been so wonderful in supporting our business these last 50 years." Said Will Fleenor, President of Fleenor Security Systems.

Fleenor Security Systems, Security Central & Holmes Security: Disaster Relief for Hurricane Helene and Milton

When Hurricane Helene devastated East Tennessee and Western North Carolina, Duncan Hubbard, from Holmes Security System immediately reached out to Will Fleenor to ask how they could help, knowing the extent of the damage and the impact on some of Fleenor Security's customers. They traveled from Fayetteville, NC, in a U-Haul filled with 5 pallets of water and had to make an extremely long trip due to major interstate closures. Jordan Jackson and his team at Security Central sprang into action as well and donated generators, water purifiers, and other needed supplies for Fleenor Security to distribute. "Their generosity and willingness to help allowed us to serve as a central hub for relief efforts during that week. The disaster struck on a Friday, and our responses were coordinated and being sent out to those impacted by Monday morning. We quickly utilized our warehouse to store all of our donation supplies that our team and industry friends brought together, and then partnered with our local response warriors to distribute them to rural and isolated areas in East TN and Western NC," explained Will Fleenor.

Alarm Protection Services (APS): Supporting Education and Disaster Relief

APS provided supplies and cash donations to St. Michael Special School. APS hosted a heartwarming ceremony to give the donation, including dinner and dancing for faculty and students Additionally, APS organized a donation drive for household supplies to support those impacted by Hurricane Helene.

Alarm Detection Systems: Trivia Challenge for Charity

To celebrate ADS Founder’s Day, Alarm Detection Systems hosted a livestreamed trivia challenge focused on alarm knowledge for customers and peers. The event raised $1,000 for Doctors Without Borders USA and $750 for Ronald McDonald House Charities. Along with donations, this initiative educated the community about alarm safety, keeping us all safer and Stronger Together.

HVAC Partners Build Connections

Maynor Heating & Air Conditioning: Playhouses for Childhood Cancer Awareness

Partnering with Eric Newman, a childhood cancer survivor, and the Roc Solid Foundation, Maynor built and delivered a playhouse for Ethan, a four-year-old battling leukemia. For children like Ethan, who must avoid large groups, this personalized play space offers a sanctuary for fun and joy.

Wooldridge Heating, Air, Electrical Inc.: Habitat for Humanity Partnership

Wooldridge collaborated with Altavista Habitat for Humanity, providing materials, labor, and HVAC systems for new homes. Their contributions reflect a commitment to giving back while emphasizing that local partnerships make us #StrongerTogether.

Genz-Ryan: #GenzGives

Working with the non-profit "Best Christmas Ever," Genz-Ryan staff surprised five families with personalized gifts and $10,000 in support. Families included the Gegen family, who’s 17-year-old son is currently fighting his second battle with cancer, as well as the Talbert family, who are led by a single mother fighting cancer. Genz-Ryan hosted a company wrapping party and delivered the presents with convoy of Genz-Ryan vehicles, bringing much-needed holiday cheer to families navigating tough battles with cancer.

Airco Service Company: Charity Golf Scramble

Airco partnered with the Troy Police Department to host a golf scramble, raising funds for causes like Special Olympics, Shop with a Cop, and local food pantries. This initiative highlighted the synergy between local businesses and public service organizations.
